Sharon Candelise is an artist who enjoys working with fiber, mixed media, surface design, collage, and art journals. Occasionally she likes to take a break from her usual media and experiment with watercolor and pastels.
In the mid-1980s, while living in the Detroit area and working full-time as a legal secretary, she studied and created art part-time. She taught herself silk painting and surface design techniques while taking courses in color theory, drawing and composition. In the 1990s she began exhibiting paintings and wearable art in local shows and galleries. She also taught workshops in silk painting.
After moving to Prescott AZ in 1997, Sharon continued exhibiting in group shows and galleries. She was active in several community art groups, offering demonstrations and workshops. While a member of Prescott Art Docents, she gave presentations on art and art history to elementary school classes and community groups in the Prescott area.
In 2001 Sharon joined the Business Office of Prescott College, working as Purchasing Agent until 2014. During that time she completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art. Sharon moved to Sun City full-time in 2015, and has since devoted her time to expanding her knowledge and mastery of surface design and mixed media techniques.
Her work can be viewed at the Artists by the Lake Club room on the second floor of the Lakeview Recreation Center, Thunderbird Road,Sun City, Az 85351. The art club is open to anyone with a valid RCSC card. Yearly dues are $10 . The club offers classes in colored pencil, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, oil and acrylic at all levels.
