I derive great pleasure from experimenting with different mediums and textures especially with my mixed medium pieces. I enjoy when people are moved by my art work. Whether they love it or don’t it has stirred something in them!”

2477A798 02D8 4B3B AAC3 20FE424BF130Mark Christopher was an artist before he ever claimed the name. His journey to creating and teaching art was a leap of faith that began in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan, where he originally planned to pursue a career in physics. In 2011, he followed his true calling to be a full-time artist into the Arizona desert. Since then, he’s committed to his explosive passion for painting, drawing, teaching, and unbridled self-expression.

For Mr. Christopher, art is as much about aesthetics as it is about supporting the well-being of his community. His soul-driven representations of people and nature are designed to infuse homes, workplaces, and other public spaces with the spirit of unshakable inner peace. As an art teacher, Mark honors each student for their individuality and their vision, B59C3CDD 9F54 421A 9025 5E27B9C62790while promoting a clear understanding of artistic technique. imageThe Artists by the Lake club is proud to announce we have selected Georgia Feiste as the September Artist of the Month.. Ms. Feiste is retired from a career in insurance operations, and busier than ever! She is a certified life coach as well and delights in coaching others to soar, teaching them to serve as their own personal life coach. But, more importantly she loves to make art, and share what she knows with others.

In 2012, Georgia decided she could no longer coach people to follow their dreams if she was not doing so herself, so for the last seven years she has been taking classes in pastels, acrylics, and oils as a snowbird in Sun City, AZ. During her time spent back in Nebraska, she immersed herself in techniques and style, reading dozens of books, watching you-tube videos and taking online classes. This creative outlet allows her to bring richness to her life, and share that feeling and knowledge with others.

During that time, as people discovered her art, she has received commissiones  for paintings of loved ones, flowers, birds, dogs, and cats. Her largest endeavor was a 5’ x 5’ portrait of two small boys in the wilds of Montana! Her latest series of paintings was drawn from her two months in Ecuador in 2019. Her favorite subject: children at play.

Georgia has won several awards at the Sun City Annual Juried Art Show and Palo Verde Art Show, and is a juried member of Vanguard Art Group in the West Valley in Arizona. She became an associate at Noyes Art Gallery in Lincoln, NE, in August, 2016.

Now that she has moved to Sun City, AZ permly, sh will be teaching beginning painting for seniors who have not painted for a very long time, or have never painted before. She has a creative ability to share what she has learned from her many hours of zen-full painting.

The Artists by the Lake club is open to any RCSC card holder for $10 a year. There are monthly meetings from September through May with a demonstration by an artist about something that will help members improve their personal style as an artist. We are newly renovated! Come visit us online art! or in person on the second floor of the Lakeview Recreation Center. We want to meet you!
